Fort Nisqually Living History, WA

Having just come from the zoo, we took the short drive to Fort Nisqually.

It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day, despite the forecast for rain, and it was really nice to be able to take our time and wander the grounds of the old fort which is now a living history museum, with recreators hanging around just waiting to answer questions. It used to be a popular fur trading and farming post for the Hudson Bay Company. Check out the Wikipedia article for more about the fascinating history of this place. Tales of murder, farming, and its restoration.

Jim tries on a hat. Isn't he dapper?
